Manchester City announced on its official website on Friday that the club had signed a new contract with England international attacking midfielder wonderkid Phil Foden.
According to Manchester City’s official statement, Foden, whose contract was originally scheduled to expire in the summer of 2024, has signed on a three-year extension with the club, with the validity of his new contract will now runs until the summer of 2027.
After completing contract renewal procedures, Foden said in an interview with Manchester City’s official website: “At this moment, it is difficult for me to express in words how happy I am to sign this contract. This is simply a dream come true.”
“I’ve been a huge Manchester City fan all my life. I’ve been training here for many years, I’ve even been a ball boy. I love this club so much, so when I got to know that I’m going to be a part of the member here at least until 2027, it was a great feeling.”
“I’ve made tremendous progress in recent years, thanks in large part to Pep (Guardiola) and his team of assistants, who guided me every day on the training ground. Being able to work with them has given me a platform and opportunity to further improve and become the best player that I can be.”
“With the team we’ve built here, I believe I can continue to grow and win more trophies. Those are the two most important things for me.”
“I would like to thank everyone at Manchester City because without them, I would not be where I am today. All the coaches I have worked with at academy level, all the players I have played with, and all the people who are working behind the scenes, I am very honoured to be part of this club with everyone of you.”
