Jürgen Klopp indirectly admitted that Liverpool failed to sign ‘always wanted’ Aurélien Tchouaméni ‘who chose to go to another club’ and promised to try to sign a new midfielder before transfer window deadline days shuts..

Liverpool ECHO exclusively reported last night that Liverpool head coach Jürgen Klopp admitted that the club failed to sign a midfielder which he had ‘always wanted’ because the player ‘chose to go to another club’, and that the club will try to sign a new midfielder before the summer transfer window closes after the deadline tonight.

According to the report, Klopp initially did not intend to sign a new midfielder, but later because the entire team was plagued by injuries, and that the midfield department was the most affected, so he finally changed his mind and decided to sign a new midfielder upon media and fans’ advise.

Klopp added that he had in fact originally determined to sign a midfielder which he has ‘always wanted’ for a long time, but the player later resolutely chose to go to another club, so he had no choice but to accept that his plan to sign the player has failed.

Looking back through earlier reports, this meant that the “midfielder who he had always wanted but resolutely chooses to go to another club” which was implied by Klopp is non other than France international defensive midfield wonderkid Aurélien Tchouaméni who had only just switched to the Real Madrid not long ago this summer.

This also meant that it was the first time that the German have indirectly admitted that the club have tried to buy the up-and-coming all-conquering French wonderkid who lit up the Ligue 1!

Earlier, a number of British outlet had reported that Liverpool had made an offer of 85.3 million pounds to Monaco to buy the 22-year-old midfielder.

However, Fabrizio Romano said that Tchouaméni has had his heart set on joining Real Madrid, thus the player’s former club did not publicly announce that they had rejected Reds’ offer.

When asked by reporters on reinitiating his plans to sign a new midfielder, Klopp promised that he would try his best to get a new midfielder arrive the club, but he asked that people to not have too much expectation upon this matter.

Klopp explained that he will only choose to buy a player after he is 100% sure that he will work with them for long time under a simple condition that is straightforward, so if he does indeed make a signing, it should only be in the form a short-term plan.

With club captain Jordan Henderson injured in the club’s 2-1 narrow home win over Newcastle United at Anfield this morning, Fabinho, James Milner, Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho are now the only midfielders that Liverpool could be called upon, which will undoubtedly add to the club’s worries.

Not long ago, some media speculated that Liverpool are planning to spend £100million to buy England international midfielder Jude Bellingham

However, the were also reports which indicated Real might offer an ever higher bid to the Bundesliga giants just to make the Reds look silly again.

Whether these speculations are true or not, it is extremely unlikely Borussia Dortmund, Klopp’s former club will agree to let Bellingham leave after losing Erling Håland and Sébastien Haller, as well as the injured Karim Adeyemi.
