Frank Kessie will honour his contract with Barcelona, his agent confirmed to Mundo Deportivo on Sunday. Although the player is currently not performing well, he has no intention of seeking to leave the team in the winter window.
“It’s fake news, it’s all nonsense,” Kessie’s agent, George Atangana, told Mundo Deportivo. “Kessie is very happy at Barcelona (the club) and Barcelona, he has no intention of leaving. He has no intention of leaving. I’ve only been at the club for a few months and I’m still getting used to the Barcelona style of play,” Atangana stressed.
“Kessie has nothing to do with other clubs, he just needs some time.”
George Atangana’s statement was undoubtedly a response to CalcioMercato.com. The media recently reported that Kessie wants to leave the team in the winter transfer window in January and is open to returning to AC Milan.
CalcioMercato.com also said that Kessie was dissatisfied with his situation in Barcelona when he wanted to leave: after joining Barcelona as a free agent this season, the Ivorian has only 4 starts and 1 goal. At the same time, Barcelona have been eliminated from the Champions League group stage.
Atangana then assured Mundo Deportivo that his client remained committed to being part of the main lineup: “Kessie will continue to work hard to get a place in the team. He is not a player to give up easily. Other offers put the weight on Barcelona,” Atangana said.
